Located at Ayala Fairview Terraces’ Food Choices, Tomochan Ramen Express is a new Japanese concept wherein ramen, our comfort food, can possibly be consumed every day without breaking the bank, and without compromising the quality and taste. The founder believe that this will be the ‘daily ramen’ that is reachable to every Filipino.
For a quick background, Tomo came from the word Tomodachi, a Japanese term for a friend, while Chan is widely used for children, friends, and loved ones. Tomochan symbolizes a solid friendship that promotes love, loyalty and dedication.
The stall is hard not to miss as it boast a very bold cartoon logo on top of their vibrant red theme. Check out their other stores at Marquee Mall, New Point Mall, Solenad Mall and LKG Tower (for Makati peeps! 🙂 )
Eating out with a date is advantageous for a reason, we gotta order and try different sets of foods. Yay! We ordered one ramen and one rice meal for each of us. And oh, we’re surprised that all these are just for less than five hundred pesos.
Shoyu Special (P149) – clear brown soup made basically with pork broth and soy sauce, topped with four slices of chashu. We love the generous serving of noodles and meat. And we love the egg more! We’ve noticed that the egg was served whole, unlike in other expensive restaurants wherein tamago is served just half of it.
Miso Special (P169) – miso, or fermented bean paste, based soup, also topped with four slices of chashu and whole egg.
Chicken Karaage (P79) – three pieces of deep fried chicken, seasoned lightly and cooked to a mild crunch, dip and cabbage on the side. This is our personal favorite. If i weren’t for the ramen, we think we’ll be able to order more rice for this. It’s good! And guys, it’s only 79 pesos FTW! This one’s a steal!
Katsu Rice Meal (P79) – pork slices battered and fried for an extra crispy crunch, dip and cabbage on the side as well. We find this just enough for the price. it’s actually very affordable, a good companion of their Shoyu ramen.
Value for money: Worth it! We’ve found our place to be for a quick ramen fix at lunch!
