The Garage: Millenials’ Paradise for VR and Food

VR Play + Food! It’s the millenials’ ultimate playground!

Overall:

We’ve been playing at City of Dreams Manila’s casino for years now and we always have one problem every time – FOOOOD!!! It’s either too expensive like Crystal Dragon or The Tasting Room, or too cheap like 7 eleven. There’s nothing in between. The food gods and goddesses heard our plea and so they made The Garage, an upscale food park housing only the best of the bests. And guys, the bonus part – it has a VR Zone! Hooray!

The Garage houses Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, Little Flour, El Chupacabra, Juiced, The Roaster, Pinks, Farmacy, Pizza Grigliata, Chocol8, and Katsu Sora in the meantime, still anticipating some new additions later on.

The VR Zone is powered by Bandai Namco Amusement, a familiar Japanese company famous for its fun and innovative gaming technologies. They currently offer three different experiences namely Ski Rodeo, Mario Kart, and Hospital Escape Terror. We’ve tried all three games and definitely made the most out of it.

Mario Kart – like any other racing game, the goal is to finish the track first. We ere seated on a simulator seat complete with handle, break, and accelerator pedal. Since the game can accommodate 4 players, we were asked by the staff if we can be joined by other players in like. We willingly said yes and we’re up for the game! The race lasted for a few minutes of adventures, antics, and fun. One of us won so it was a bragging moment for us. Haha!

Ski Rodeo – the goal of this game is to reach the bottom of the mountain within 2 minutes. They currently have two ski simulators as of the moment and each of them is individually operating. Meaning, there’s no competition here and each player has his/her own interface. The game was very thrilling as the trail was very steep thus the fast gravitational pull. Unfortunately, we haven’t got the chance to reach the bottom of the map so we just compared how close we’ve gotten into it. Oh well, we’ll be better next time!

Hospital Escape Terror – an immersive horror room that has caught everyone’s attention because of the screams of all players. The goal of this game is to escape a deserted hospital ward with all the players. We were seated on a comfy couch with a lever and a stick that serves a flashlight inside the virtual game. Same with Mario Kart, we also agreed to be joined by other players. We started the game and tried to escape together. The hospital was indeed really scary and full of suspense. We’re unsuccessful on escaping since we have to wait for the other players as well. Next time, we won’t be letting some strangers ruin our strategy for a better game experience. Haha!

The VR Zone experience was very fun and unique, something we don’t do everyday so we’re glad we made the most out of it. We also appreciate how hygienic it is too! They give out individual eye masks and they disinfect each gadget after every use. Just a friendly warning though, the VR might make you feel dizzy after so best to have a water or menthol ready. Or food to eat after.

Well, speaking of food, let’s visit each of the stalls inside The Garage:

Chocol8 – the first one to catch everyone’s eyes. It’s a store of handcrafted chocolates freshly made inside the store. If you’re lucky, you can watch the chocolatiers in action through the kitchen’s glass window. The store even has a small gallery of sculptures made out of pure chocolate. we wouldn’t want to leave this store forever! The smell is just pure bliss.

The Roaster – coffees and teas freshly roasted and brewed on the spot. We’ve tried their Leche de Tigre Tea and Pearl Milk Tea and both did not disappoint.

Juiced – smoothies and freshly-squeezed fruit juices. They even let people customize their own flavor. Nice!

Little Flour – brunch all-day with locally-inspired dishes, rice bowls and desserts. The stall was still closed when we got there but they already set up the place, so we’re watching out for that.

Katsu Sora – authentic Japanese dishes, specializing in Tonkatsu. We’ve tried their Sakura Tonkatsu and Butadon. It was a 5-star rating for us. Both were so good!

Farmacy – ICE CREAM. Stat!

El Chupacabra – Makati’s crowd-favorite taco place is now in COD! Spot the red taco truck for a variety of Mexican-influenced grub. They offer combo plates for the best of both worlds.

Pink’s – well-loved sausages, burgers, fries, nachos, and milkshakes – a.k.a all our heart’s desire.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka – one of Metro Manila’s most famous ramen joint. The brand is known for its finely-crafted soup base, authentic Hokkaido noodles and tender charsiu slices.

Pizza Grigliata – freshly-made artisanal pizza hand-made in thin crust pizza dough.

We think we gave you enough reasons to head now to City of Dreams Manila’s The Garage. Grab your date for a one-of-a-kind night to remember.
