?The Penthouse 8747 –?
?Lepanto Building, Makati City
?Date for Two: Prime Sausages and Mash Platter, Jimmy Gatz, Fresh Mango Shake
For so long, we’ve been spotting this rooftop bar from our office window. The place looks so alive at night, a reason we put this on our list of must-trys. The Penthouse 8747 is located at Lepanto building, a relatively old building in the heart of Makati. It is just across Ayala Triangle Gardens and a few steps away from our office (Zuellig Building).
There’s no special entrance to get to the bar, we hopped on the building’s elevator up to the top floor and one level up via stairs. Their holding area is pretty decent and clean, and their staff warmly welcomed us and led us to our table. We just walked in since it’s a weekday.
Yeah, wow! The lobby seems normal but once we got outside, this Great Gatsby bar left us in awe, and the view that came with it was g-r-e-a-t! We got seated on their couch without any minimum orders but we think it’s best to sit at the high tables right beside the railings for a view advantage.
We ordered their Prime Sausages and Mash Platter, a big plate of Hungarian, Schublig, and Frankfurter sausages topped with caramelized onions, with mustard mayo and ketchup on the side. We also had one of their signature cocktail, Jimmy Gatz, and a Fresh Mango Shake. The platter was a bit pricey, can be improved by having some better ‘prime’ selections of sausages. Drinks were fine. We’ve been reading reviews online about their poor service, but at that night, it was all good. Staffs were all friendly and attentive.
Value for money: Pricey but will still go back for the view and the great place, and maybe try their other bar chows.
