? Date for Two: Shiromaru Chashu, Akamaru Chashu
? Total: P950
Ramen for dinner! The ramen-lovers community seems to be happy when Ippudo finally arrived in the country. We got to see long lines and lots of food photos in social media raving about this one. Now we got to try and taste it for ourselves.
Shiromaru Chashu (P480) – Ippudo’s original tonkotsu broth served with ultra-thin noodles, egg, bamboo shoots, and braised pork. We opted for medium hardness of noodles. The broth was creamy but light, we’re looking for more flavors but it was just a plain ramen, nothing spectacular.
Akamaru Chashu (P470) – basically the same as Shiromaru but with added miso paste and garlic oil. This one’s better than the first as it is bolder. But still, we find this one just okay.
To be honest, we know a handful of people claiming Ippudo should top the best ramen place in the metro. Some says Tsuta, most says it’s Mendokoro or Ramen Yoshuken. All these ramen places have their own specialty so it’s quite hard to compare. But for us, ramen in general, it’s always Mendokoro Ramenba.
Value for money: A bit expensive considering the taste. We remember having the same in Ramen Kuroda which was priced less than half of Ippudo’s ramen.
How about you, guys? What else have you tried here? Do you have anything to recommend?
