Barkada: Underrated Treasure Trove of Good Food

Unexpected goodness from this quiet resto sitting in UP Town Center.

? Barkada?

? UP Town Center, Quezon City

Located at UP Town Center, Barkada is a low-key restaurant serving affordable comfort foods. Barkada is one of the pioneer restaurants when UP Town Center opened their doors. On our visit, we can see a lot of patrons ranging from students to lovers to families.

Below are the dishes we’ve tried:

Shrimp Pomelo with honey Vinaigrette (P225) – the amazing medley of shrimp and pomelo was unexpected, a great salad to start a good lunch.

Eggplant Salad (P115) – we were not that fond of eggplant that’s not fried. However, Bakada’s Eggplant Salad is one of the few exceptions. It was simply delicious.

Bacon-wrapped Chicken (P185) – Bacon and chicken? We’re in! The chicken was tender and the bacon was perf!

Beer-battered Fish – a slab of salmon deep fried in a light batter with beer. Fresh and tasty!

Crispy Liempo Kare Kare (P245) – why try those in expensive restaurant when you can have this masterpiece for less?

Three Cheese Burger with Fries and Iced Tea (P225) – as they were serving other types of dishes other than Filipino ones, we’ve tried their Three Cheese Burger. It was so good! We didn’t expect this one. It was actually one of the best burgers we’ve tried. And yes, all that goodness for just over two hundred pesos.

Lechon Kawali and Pork Sisig Rice Bowls (P79 each) – we all know the reasons why students keep coming back to this resto – these! It’s affordable yet the quality and serving was not compromised.

Smores (P135) – the usual melted chocolate, mallows and graham crackers on the side, the classic and best way to end the meal.

Value for money: Worth it! Barkada deserves a spotlight in the food industry as it offers quality and affordable dishes.
